Last week I had the chance to head to Chicago as part of a trip to explore the city and a city guide is definitely in the works– first though I thought I’d share more about the place I called home for the five days I was in the city– The Hoxton Hotel, Chicago.

Having been fourtunate enough to stay at the Hoxton in London a month ago, I know that The Hoxton does it’s interiors and attention to detail really well, but if it’s possible I really think Chicago is even more beautiful. The lobby is very stylish but cosy and welcoming at the same time, the restaurant offering is super impressive & the location & surrounding neighbourhood is the perfect place to spend your time in Chicago.

The hotel is in the heart of the Fulton Market District, a former industrial area of the city know for it’s artistic feel and cool restaurants– it’s location is great spot to start exploring the city, from there you can easily wander around Downtown and head to iconic places like Millennium Park & the Skydeck at Willis Tower and see some of the beautiful architecture along the river too.

The rooms at The Hoxton in Chicago are so beautifully designed and decorated with floor to ceiling windows that bring in a lot of light and highlight a beautiful view of the city, maybe the dreamiest and comfiest bed I’ve ever stayed in & lots of special details like piles of books curated and recommended by friends of The Hoxton. The rooms are beautiful and very photogenic but definitely not over the top, they still have a very classic feel which I definitely appreciate. As with other Hoxton hotels you get provided every day with a Breakfast Bag which you mark with the time with you’d like it delivered, you hang on the door before you go sleep and it arrives in the morning with your breakfast– in Chicago you get a pot of overnight oats, fresh fruit and a bottle of juice. It’s the perfect thing to have in the morning before you head out for the day and it’s those kind of details that I love so much about staying at The Hoxton.

Obviously I spent a fair amount of time working or chilling out in my room but I also LOVED spending time in the cosy Hoxton lobby, the space was absolutely beautiful, as with the rest of the hotel the decor was just right– luxe but not overdone. If I’d had more time while I was staying there I would have loved to have spent an afternoon working in the lobby, with a coffee, watching the train run right past the window– it really was a lovely spot.

While we were staying at The Hoxton we also had the chance to see the brand new Working From_ space– a coworking space inside the hotel– which opened only a few weeks ago. As with everything else The Hoxton does, they’ve put a lot of care & attention on what they want the space to be, it’s beautiful and light and set up for individuals and bigger groups to be productive & but also creative too– if I was in Chicago I know I’d be heading there to get some work done. Facilities are open 24/7 and include meeting room, super fast Wifi, showers, a self service pantry with snacks & daily wellness classes. They also have a Working From_ space in Southwark, London too so if you’re looking for a workspace in London or Chicago definitely take a look at the options available!

Our first night at the Hoxton we visited the rooftop restaurant– Cabra– a Peruvian inspired place by one of Chicago’s best female chefs, Stephanie Izard. It was a Monday night when we ate there but it was completely packed out and apparently had been since it opened earlier in the year. The food was amazing but the atmosphere really made it for me, the restaurant is beautiful and being up on the roof you get the best views of the city while you enjoy your dinner.

During our stay we also got to experience brunch at Cira, downstairs in the lobby– Cira offers small plates and sharing options with a Mediterranean feel and the brunch was something special, I partially loved and recommend the French toast and the crispy potatoes. In terms of other dining or more specially drinking options there’s also Lazy Bird, the cocktail bar tucked away under the hotel.

I would absolutely love to head back to The Hoxton in Chicago one day in the future but until then, they also have hotels in LA, Portland, Williamsburg, Paris, Amsterdam and three in London & I would love to get around to visiting some of their other locations. If you’re looking for a place to stay or eat in Chicago then definitely add The Hoxton and it’s restaurants to your list– I’ve stayed in a quite few hotels over the last few years and this one is without a doubt my favourite!

My stay at The Hoxton was complimentary as part of a press trip with Choose Chicago. As always all content & opinions are my own.
