A WEEKEND AWAY AT DAYLESFORD COTTAGES.
Recently I had been feeling that restless feeling of wanting to take a trip away somewhere, to explore somewhere new & especially as I usually head straight to a city to explore, to take in some of the English countryside too. So when I was invited, at last minute, to stay for a long weekend at Daylesford Cottages I jumped at the chance! I hadn’t heard of Daylesford before but now I can see exactly why it’s such a popular place and why they have farmshop and spa locations in London, I completely fell in love with the feel, the fresh, white aesthetic and the attention to detail that we discovered at Daylesford. But I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…
Me & Daisy headed out on a little road trip across the countryside towards Daylesford on Friday and soon came across the beautiful Cotswold villages which made us even more excited to get to our cottage we would be staying in for a long weekend. Once we arrived we had a little look around the farmshop which was only 50 yards from our front door before getting settled into our cosy cottage, lighting the fire and watching some Netflix.
We had a lovely slow Saturday morning and breakfast in bed before we decided to head out to Oxford to explore for the afternoon as it’s only about 30 minutes away from Daylesford and as neither of us had been before we decided to make the most of being so close. After a day of wandering in Oxford our cosy cottage was the perfect place to come back to, we had pizza for dinner and cosied up in front of the fire again!
On Sunday we decided to really make the most of what Daylesford has to offer. When staying in one of the Daylesford cottages, there are five different cottages to choose from, each adult receives a Bamford Spa treatment at the onsite spa, only a minutes walk from the cottage. As we were booked in to stay at Daylesford quite last minute only one spa treatment was available, so Daisy visited the spa for a facial. While she was enjoying that, I made brunch in the cottage with the welcome pack that had been supplied as part of the stay too. When you arrive at Daylesford your kitchen is stocked with essentials including organic milk, butter, eggs and bread plus tea, coffee and a selection of Daylesford savoury treats too. So on Sunday morning we could enjoy a delicious brunch in our cottage which we also added to with some fresh pastries from the farmshop.
After brunch I had another wander around the farm site, taking pictures– while Daisy went out on a bike ride to the nearby village of Kingham, with the bikes that are freely available for guests to use. Sunday is quite a busy day at Daylesford, staying at The Potting Shed and being so close to the farmshop does mean that there are people often shopping & eating lunch in the courtyard just outside your window but that didn’t really bother us at all! We picked up some dinner from the farmshop and headed out for a little walk to watch the sunset before another cosy night in, in front of the fire, in case you hadn’t guessed I really loved having a real fire place!
Monday morning was time to pack up and check out but once we’d done that we headed to the organic cafe for brunch before our journey home. On site Daylesford has, as well as the organic cafe, a restaurant and a bar that has recently opened too, so plenty of choices to enjoy a drink or meal during your stay. Our brunch that morning included a cooked breakfast, fruit toast, a cinnamon latte and organic apple juice and elderflower kombucha, which we both really enjoyed!
We had an amazing stay at Daylesford and completely fell in love with the cottage we stayed in and everything else Daylesford has to offer, as well as onsite restaurants, shops and spa, Daylesford also has a cookery school and garden workshop too. A weekend stay here might be a pricey for some but it’s such a dreamy place to stay & as I mentioned earlier the attention to detail is just amazing, so much care has been put in to everything about staying here and if you’re looking for a place in the English countryside to stay for some rest and relaxation then I’d definitely recommend a stay at Daylesford!
I received a complimentary stay at Daylesford Cottages in exchange for coverage on Instagram. All opinions are my own.
