STAYING AT A RUSTIC WILDFLOWER WAGON IN THE COUNTRYSIDE.
*PRESS STAY
There was nothing that was more welcome this autumn than a few days away in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside– taking in the autumn colours and local wildlife and being able to switch off for a while and spend a cosy afternoon reading.
I stayed in a rustic Wildflower Wagon, just one of the unique, cosy accommodations available from Kip Hideaways. Kip is a curation of the best boutique rentals in the UK for 2-6 people with a focus on small places with soul, under the radar and affordable. They’re a membership site, joining means you get special access to the unique accommodations, member offers and get the chance to support small independent places.
The Wildflower Wagon is a beautifully converted, Edwardian showmans wagon set in a apple orchard and wildflower meadow in the Herefordshire countryside just 30 minutes from Hereford and 30 minutes from Hay-on-Wye. The drive to the wagon was a dream as I drove through the picturesque villages and took in all of the autumn foliage before arriving at the place I would call home for a few days. Stepping inside the Wildflower Wagon felt like stepping back in time, despite having everything you need to keep you in comfort for a few days– a well equipped kitchen and full bathroom facilities, there are beautiful period features which help to create the most magical, cosy atmosphere.
The bathroom is adjoined to the wagon and is kept warm with its heated towel rail and cedar cladding and has the most beautiful Moroccan tadelakt-plastered shower, which made having a shower in the morning a real highlight.
As well as the kitchen and bathroom facilities other amenities include the wood burner and generous supply of logs that keeps the wagon toasty warm even on cold rainy mornings & fire pit– perfect for cooking dinner or toasting marshmallows as the sun goes down. During my stay I made full use of the amenities on offer and as a very lovely bonus, on the evening I arrived I enjoyed a home cooked stew and homemade brownies left as a gift by the kind owners.
There is plenty to do in the local area with places like Hay-on-Wye so nearby but staying put in the wagon is a great option too, I decided not to venture out but to stay and enjoy the surroundings of the Wildflower Wagon, with the beautiful views across the meadow, it’s a very peaceful spot. I brewed coffee and read while the autumn, afternoon sun came streaming through the French doors, it was really the perfect break.
Although, as I’m currently writing this, its not possible to stay away in the UK, I’d defintley recommend bookmarking Kip Hideaways for future trips especially if you're looking to stay somewhere unique and cosy.
My stay at The Wildflower Wagon was complimentary via Kip Hideaways– as always all content & opinions are my own.
