STAYCATION AT BEDFORD LODGE HOTEL.
It’s been a little while since I've sat down and written a post here on the blog and I have lots of post ideas to share with you but not a whole lot of time and/or the energy to get them written but hopefully they’ll be on the way soon! In the meantime though I wanted to share with you a little staycation I took last week to Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa which is not far from Cambridge.
I was invited by the hotel to come and experience the spa and stay for the night and to shoot some content for them while I was there. Like I mentioned it’s not far– less than twenty minutes away– from Cambridge so in a great location if you’re looking to explore Cambridge and the surrounding area. The vibe of the hotel was a little on the corporate side for my taste but was so beautifully presented and the spa was such a lovely space, separate to the main hotel. I took my mum with me as she loves a spa and defitinely needed and deserved a little break!
We started our day at the spa where we were booked in for a spa day plus treatments. To start with we made the most of having the rooftop hot tub to ourselves before having some lunch in the spa lounge– a small restaurant on site where they serve drinks and light lunches including a delicious quinoa and halloumi salad that comes highly recommend from mum. After lunch we both had treatments back in the spa, I went for the much needed Optimal Skin Pro Facial and mum chose the Relaxing Dry Floatation. They offer a really wide range of treatments including numerous spa treatments, facials, massages, reflexology and many others. As someone who hasn’t had a spa treatment in a while it was really lovely to have a facial which included a thorough consultation where I definitely learnt some new things about what my skin needed. After a very relaxing treatment we enjoyed some time in the hydrotherapy pool, the luxury steam room and sauna before doing some reading on the comfy beds of the mezzanine level above the pool. What I thought really made our spa day was how quiet it was, they don’t over book treatments and try to stagger them so the whole experience is a really peaceful one.
As we were booked in to the hotel restaurant at 6pm for dinner we had to drag ourselves away from relaxing by the pool to check in to our room for the night. Our room had all of the essentials plus some extras including a good selection of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits and complimentary Molten Brown products in the bathroom. We had a room in the main hotel building which was really convenient to head down to the Squires Restaurant. The mood and ambience in the restaurant made for a great dinner experience and the food obviously made it even better– I went for the mushroom mac & cheese (a combination of all of favourites) and sticky toffee pudding– I can highly recommend them all. Talking of food, after a good nights sleep, we headed back to the restaurant for breakfast where they offered a great menu of cooked breakfast and also continental options– again I can really recommend the pancakes. After checking out we headed into Cambridge for the rest of the day.
We both really enjoyed our little staycation break & I think we both agree that the Spa was the highlight for us and would definitely recommend it for spa days and treatments. Thank you to the Bedford Lodge Hotel for having us for the night!
I received a complimentary stay at Bedford Lodge Hotel– all content & opinions are my own.
