STAYING AT THE HOXTON, SOUTHWARK.
*Press Stay
I’ve been having a pretty quiet start to the year in terms of travelling and instead I have been making the most of the places on my doorstep– specifically spending more time in London– which is so close it’s the perfect place for a day trip and I wouldn’t often plan on staying the night. That was until back in October last year I had the chance to visit the then brand new Hoxton in Southwark for a press event and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it– so just last week I headed back to my favourite hotel to share the love with you here on the blog.
The Hoxton, as a hotel chain, is everything I would be looking for– beautiful interiors, attention to detail, the most welcoming staff and the fact that they are always offering something different from any of the other hotels I’ve stayed at. I’ve already shown myself to be a pretty passionate fan of The Hoxton when I stayed with them in Chicago and if you’re interested you can find that post here. But for now, back to London, just south of the river, and a five minute walk from Southwark station is the newest Hoxton in London, only opened six months ago.
I hope that the photos speak for themselves but the room interiors of The Hoxton are so beautiful– they have such a luxe feel to them without them being too over done and they’re cosy and characterful but still light, fresh and modern– basically if I could design my own perfect hotel room it would basically be the ones at The Hoxton.
The south of the river location is the perfect spot for exploring London– the Tate Modern is only a ten minute walk away and places like Borough Market, The National Theatre and Southbank are all less than a twenty minute walk from The Hoxton. And in case you’re looking for more local tips– they include a map of the surrounding area in your room and feature popular & independant local business so you can plan the rest of your trip really easily.
During my stay I had the opportunity the eat at one of the two onsite restaurant offerings– Albie, the all day restaurant inspired by the French and Italian rivera. I was kindly invited to try the weekend brunch menu which includes classic options like pastries, the full english croissant and french toast as well as a selection of pasta, salads and sandwiches– and I can highly recommend the baked eggs which were so so good!
The second onsite restaurant is the really beautiful Seabird located on the 14th floor offering a seafood menu with highlights like London’s longest oyster list and amazing views of the city. I didn’t have the chance to eat here this time around but before I left I was able to have a little look around and take some pictures of the stunning interiors. I’ll definitely booking in to eat here next time!
As I’m sure you can tell by now The Hoxton in Southwark is one of my favourite spots and I can completely recommend it as a place to stay & eat in London and as base for exploring more of the city. If you’re planning a trip to London anytime soon and looking for a place to stay, The Hoxton should definitely be on your list. Alternatively if you’re planning a trip to Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Chicago, Portland or LA then you’ll find a Hoxton there too– & if that wasn’t enough then they also have a brand new hotel coming to Rome soon.
My stay at The Hoxton, Southwark was complimentary– as always all content & opinions are my own.
